The maintenance and repair work is progressing well on the schooner, and we are on schedule for the Gulf of the Farallones cruise. which has now been postponed an additional two weeks until Nov 3 – 5 (Friday through Sunday). This was done specifically so you will have more opportunities to qualify for the cruise.

THE CRUISE WILL BE SPECTACULAR: Beginning with a moonlight cruise along the city front on Thursday evening Nov 2…We get aboard after 8 PM, Thursday night cast off for a beautiful moonlight sail along the spectacular lighted SF city front arriving in Richardson Bay (Sausalito) about 11 pm, to anchor for the night raising a glass before retiring.

After breakfast of Kodiac Flapjacks, maple syrup. coffee and O.J., we weigh anchor sailing out the Golden Gate on the morning flood.
This is where you will learn about the currents in the gate, and how when it is flooding in at mid channel, there is a back eddy along the Marin shore headed out to sea. which is where we make our passage. Acquiring this kind of local knowledge is what SEA RAVEN is all about.

For people who are priority challenged with too much on their schedule to do the things they really want to do. we have some solutions.

Qualification to cruise is made easier. There are now three choices:
NORMAL SHIP’S MAINTENANCE: For each work day you attend your automatically earn one 24 overnight cruising credit. So, this three day cruise requires attending 3 work days. Yet, the work days themselves are fun. We start at 9 am and work until 5, with several coffee / coke and cookie breaks and then a lunch break in which I provide lunch (your choice of sandwich at the local SUBWAY). And after the afternoon work session we all sit around in the galley or on deck and have a beer at our 4:30 happy hour. So, it is really more fun and camaraderie than it is work.
MAKE UP WORK DAYS: These can be scheduled with the skipper usually for a Friday, or one of the weekends we are not holding a regular work day. Or any other day of the week by special appointment.
HALF FARE PASSAGE: if you just can’t make any work days, then you can make a Half Fare donation to the SEA RAVEN FOUNDATION. We are a USCG documented small passenger vessel for coastwise charters, and we do sell cruse passages to paying guests for $250 per day. So, you can make up for missing work days by donating $125 per day to the SEA RAVEN FOUNDATION, a new 501(c)(3) non profit, to which your contribution is fully tax deductible. If you are in a 30% tax bracket, that $125 per day, really only cost you $87.50 (cheaper than going out to a good restaurant.
Hopefully. this takes away all the excuses for not making the cruise.
